Horsemanship Camp

Carol with Horse

Here is an opportunity to find out what owning a Horse is all about. Introduction to basic horsemanship begins with a meet and greet at our main headquarters where you will be matched up with and introduced to your horse.

the Girls Saddling

This will be followed by instruction on preparation and proper saddling techniques. After a brief riding lesson with our expert equestrian instructors and evaluation of each participants riding skills and comfort level, those who are ready will begin the trail ride to Fishtail Ranch's remote riverside location.

Little girl ponying

This will be home for the duration of your horseback adventure. You will learn more about the basic care and feeding of a horse and participe in a riding program designed to improve your horsemanship skills. Since every participants skill level varies, Fishtail Ranch's equine professionals will make every effort to work with each rider at a level they are comfortable with.

Meadow Trail

Riders who are both comfortable with and in control of their horse will participate in several trail rides throughout their stay. The highlight will be riding to a high mountain meadow with a scenic view of the entire valley for a chuck wagon lunch followed by fun, games and entertainment for all.

Fly Fishing

Don't forget about the many other activities available at Fishtail Ranch many of which will be incorporated into the daily schedule. Be sure to allow yourself time to relax around the evening campfire while discussing the day's events, or just sit on your own porch and listen to the gentle sounds of the river going by.

Breakfast time

Morning comes early when you are a cowboy and since there is always plenty to do, we'll start you off with a hearty cowboy breakfast but you will be in charge of the daily care and feeding of your horse for the entire adventure.  Everyone should leave with a better understanding of what is involved with daily upkeep as well as the joy of horse ownership.
